Learning ribbon embroidery with adapted visual materials and video lessons
At the Irakli Kemoklidze Day Center, young people with disabilities learn various technologies of art therapy with adapted, modified, visual, illustrated theoretical materials and video lessons.
Applied art therapy is a specialized form of therapy that has been tested in European countries, is used with people with intellectual disabilities and mental difficulties, it is based on visual and various creative activities, and includes several directions.
People with intellectual disabilities and mental difficulties are the most vulnerable group, who have difficulty in formal education, involvement in various art circles, and employment. There are few services, circles, and illustrated textbooks tailored to their needs, and the teaching methodology is not adapted to them. People with intellectual disabilities need various therapies, alternative aids, functional approach principles, methodologically tailored to their needs, adapted, illustrated, visual, simplified, illustrated materials and video lessons, and integration into society through involvement in applied art therapy. Our organization operates an applied art workshop and sewing room, where young people with disabilities create beautiful handmade souvenirs using various technologies.
How is theoretical material provided to people with disabilities in our day center?
The teacher creates methodologically tailored, adapted, illustrated, visual, simplified, and illustrated electronic text theoretical materials and video lessons tailored to the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and mental difficulties, which are then presented to young people with disabilities by art therapist Manana Kapanadze on a projector so that they can better perceive them through the screen.
