Young people from Irakli Kemoklidze Center visited Art Palace Museum as part of an outing, integration event.<\/p>

The Georgian State Museum of Theater, Music, Cinema and Choreography - Art Palace Museum is a repository of our cultural heritage. The museum is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The author of the building is the famous architect of that period, Paul Friedrich Stern. The building is the best example of Islamic Gothic. The three-story tower, high spires, a beautifully decorated open terrace and a steeply pitched roof room have a silhouette characteristic of Tbilisi buildings.<\/p>

The history of the construction of the building makes the palace even more fascinating. In 1882, the German nobleman Konstantin Peter Oldenburg (1850-1906) met a beautiful woman, the daughter of Dadiani, in the city of Kutaisi. The prince was so fascinated by the beauty of the woman that he ignored his marital status and confessed his love to her. Oldenburg's ardent feeling made Agrafina forget both her husband and her duty. The lovers left Kutaisi and moved to Tbilisi. The beloved, who had fled from her old husband, built a beautiful palace for herself. The famous Georgian museum, the Theater Museum, founded in 1927 by the public figure David Arsenishvili (1905-1963; later the first director of Andrei Rublev in Moscow), was moved to this palace. Today it is one of the largest in the Caucasus in terms of its profile, and is on a par with museums of world importance in terms of the richness of its collection. More than 300 thousand exhibits are preserved here, providing almost exhaustive information about the development of Georgian theater, music, circus, folk art, peristyle and ballet art, and about the artists working in this field.<\/p>

The museum exhibits begin with the ancient period. This is an ancient mask discovered during archaeological excavations in the city of Vani. The manuscripts and archive documents fund contains the manuscripts of Ilia Chavchavadze, Akaki Tsereteli, Alexander Kazbegi, Alexander Akhmeteli, Kote Marjanishvili, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Theodore Chaliapin, and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov. The museum contains the personal archives of prominent artists - Dimitri Arakishvili, Giorgi Eristavi, Mikheil Chiaureli, Zakaria Paliashvili, and Vano Sarajishvili; Handwritten plays, Shakespeare's Machablish translation, rare editions of the 17th-19th centuries preserved in the museum's book depository. Gramophone records, posters, theatrical and film costumes are preserved here. The fund of photographs and photonegatives contains unique materials from the films \"Jim Schwante!\", \"Mamluk\", \"Giorgi Saakadze\" and others.<\/p>

The fund of fine arts is the richest. In the palace you will see: Persian miniatures of the 16th-17th centuries, French engravings of the 18th century, the best works of old Tbilisi painting. The paintings and graphic works of Lev Bakst, Alexander Benois, Fernand L\u00e9ger, David Kakabadze, Lado Gudiashvili, Elene Akhvlediani, Petre Otskheli, Irakli Parjiani deserve special mention.<\/p>
