The wood workshop "Ray" is an inclusive educational and entrepreneurial space, created with the aim of economic and social empowerment of young people with disabilities. The project combines non-formal education, vocational training, creative work and the development of entrepreneurial skills.
The main goal of the project is to promote the social and economic integration of young people with disabilities, create an adapted working environment for them, and develop their professional skills, which will contribute to independent living, self-realization, and increased employment opportunities.
The target group of the project is young people, including those with intellectual disabilities, psychosocial needs and other difficulties. The project involved more than 20 young people, who were selected in cooperation with schools, day care centers and non-governmental organizations.
The first stage of the project included theoretical, adapted and visually modified trainings, which included:
• Presentation of the wood workshop "Shqibi" and the project
• Safety rules and the use of personal protective equipment
• Introduction to wood species and tools
• Xylography (wood engraving)
• Creating designs and sketches
• The basics of entrepreneurship – from idea to product sales
• Development of social, communication and teamwork skills
The trainings were conducted in an inclusive, supportive, and friendly environment, which led to high engagement and motivation among the participants.
All planned activities during the first stage of the project were successfully implemented. Young people with disabilities:
• They studied the observance of safety rules;
• Mastered basic woodworking techniques;
• Develop creative and self-expression skills;
• Improved social and communication skills;
• Increase motivation, self-confidence, and sense of responsibility.
The woodworking workshop "Shqivi" is not just a learning space - it is a platform of opportunities where young people with disabilities:
• Develop professional and entrepreneurial skills
• Participate in public life
• They see the real results of their work.
• They receive economic benefits.
The project helps raise public awareness about the opportunities for people with disabilities. The project is funded by the Youth Agency, whose support made it possible to develop the wood workshop "Skhivi" and create new opportunities for young people.
