Practical training in the wood workshop "Skhivi"

The second stage of the project “Shqivi” Wood Workshop – Economic and Social Empowerment of Young People with Disabilities through Non-Formal Education envisages the active involvement of young people with disabilities in the wood workshop and practical training of basic woodworking skills in a real working environment. At this stage, theoretical knowledge is transformed into practical experience, which gives young people the opportunity to create a product with their own hands and see the real results of their work. During practical training, young people with disabilities learn:

• Basic woodworking techniques (cutting, sanding, shaping, assembling souvenirs and toys);

• Applying safety rules in practice;

• Working with hand tools and simple machines;

• Practical production of wooden toys and souvenirs;

• Phased planning and completion of the work process;

• Teamwork and sharing of responsibility.

Practical training is conducted in an adapted, safe and supportive environment, with the constant support of specialists. Practical training is especially important for young people because:

• Promotes better knowledge consolidation through “learning by doing”;

• Develops motor skills, attention and concentration;

• Increases independence and sense of responsibility;

• Reduces fear of the work environment and increases self-confidence;

• Provides young people with the opportunity to gain real professional experience.

As a result of practical training, young people with disabilities:

• Master basic practical skills in working with wood;

• Will be able to independently manufacture simple wood products;

• Develop social and communication skills through work;

• Increase self-confidence and belief in their own abilities;

• Prepare to receive reduced income from the sale of products;

• Strengthen economic and social independence.

Practical learning turns the wood workshop "Shqip" not only into a learning space, but also into a real work and development platform, where young people learn, work, and create a bright future.
