Our day center

A day center operates under our organization, providing tailored services to individuals with disabilities who are over 18 years old. The center aims to promote their individual development, integration into society, prevent abandonment, and offer family support.

The activities of the day center include:

Psycho-pedagogical diagnosis - This involves conducting interviews with individuals with disabilities and their supporters, observing the beneficiaries' strengths, and developing individual rehabilitation and habilitation plans.

Psychologist's sessions - The psychologist works with the beneficiaries involved in the project, providing individual psycho-counseling, conducting thematic group meetings on various psychological topics, and working to enhance the motivation of the beneficiaries. They also focus on overcoming inferiority complex, stress relief, coping strategies, promoting personal growth, teaching emotional management, stress coping techniques, and providing recommendations to teachers, parents, and beneficiaries.

Development of abilities and skills - The day center focuses on developing the beneficiaries' abilities, leveraging their previous professional skills, and fostering creativity, imagination, observation, visual skills, and hand motor skills of youth with disabilities.

Workshops - The day center operates two workshops:

1. "SKHIVI - Irakli's Wooden Workshop": This workshop is named in memory of Irakli Kemoklidze, and it teaches young people with disabilities to create ecologically friendly wooden toys and souvenirs. They learn wood carving, artistic wood processing, independent living skills, and professional skills. The woodcarving teacher provides practical and theoretical instruction on working with wood, tools, easels, devices, safety norms, and participating in exhibitions.

2. Applied Art Workshop: In this workshop, young people with disabilities learn techniques of applied art therapy, practical skills, and create various souvenirs using unused materials. They work with materials such as felt, wet and dry wool milling technology, and create accessories, cloth dolls, baskets, and souvenirs from newspaper sticks. They also participate in exhibitions, showcasing their designs, sketches, and works of applied art using decoupage and papier-mâché technology.

Moreover, beneficiaries of the day center participate in various excursions, cultural events and festivals. They visit museums, cultural centers, they are involved in planning the excursions, and participate in sport and healthy activities.

The day center provides the beneficiaries with food, takes care of the safety and well-being of the beneficiaries, and protects them from possible episodes of violence.

The day center provides meeting with parents (supporters), informing and counseling sessions.

Furthermore, if necessary, the day center provides first aid to the beneficiaries.

The organization actively works to change the society's vision and attitude towards people with disabilities, participates in various television and radio programs, and promotes the activities of the day center and workshops in social and print media.
